Integrating content thinking into your design workflow

Wednesday, 18 November
1.00pm - 4.00pm
Via Zoom

While this workshop seems geared towards UX designers, UX writers, and content strategists, I've also had project managers, UX researchers, and developers attend past sessions.

You know content is a key tenant of a great user experience, and you’re ready to incorporate content strategy into your design workflow. But where do you start?

In this workshop, we’ll dive into several hands-on activities to help you understand when and how to include content strategy in your design process. We’ll learn how to address business goals and user needs, craft communication goals, and work collaboratively with other writers and designers. You’ll leave with five activities that focus on team alignment, stakeholder buy-in, and cross-discipline collaboration.

We will cover:

  • Empathy mapping – why you need to be able to articulate the behaviors, motivations, and distinct differences between audiences
  • Crafting communication goals and content principles
  • Establishing a voice and tone that aligns with brand guidelines
  • Content prototyping and mapping
  • Working collaboratively with other writers or designers
  • Set communication goals that align user needs with business objectives
  • Define a hierarchy of information driving toward communication goals
  • Assess content to ensure that it meets users' needs
  • Establish a voice and tone that aligns with brand guidelines
  • Map and prototype content
